Ryuji and Akechi have been sent... to the Ren Fair!

There are all sorts of people dressed up for fantasy ye olden times, there's all sorts of food and drinks and activities and shows to see!

Enjoy!

Highlights:

- They can buy/borrow clothes to wear if they wanna fit in
- It's SO hot. I cannot overstate how miserably hot it is
- There's a joust to watch!

[ Ryuji is here! He is wearing a tank top and shorts but he is also wearing a big ol flower crown that some fair maiden put on his head at one point and he didn't take off.

Also he has pointed dog ears and a fluffy dog tail, but that isn't part of the fair. Both golden, of course, to match his hair. ]

Dude, take a bite of this.

[ He also has a GIANT turkey leg in his hand and is gesturing with it to Akechi. He is absolutely trying to feed him. ]

It's soooooo good.

[This is hotter than hell and might just be hell. Especially so when he's got Ryuji shoving a giant bird leg in his direction.]

Get that out of my face, Sakamoto.

[You're going to get his face all greasy! And isn't it too hot for this kind of energy? You're stressing him out.]

[ Wow!! Spoilsport. Why come to a ren faire if you're not gonna eat a giant turkey leg? Someone isn't in the spirit of things. ]

Fiiiine. [ Takes a bite himself and then... talks while chewing. ] You ever been to one of these fairs before?

[ Do they even have ren faires in Japan?? ]

[A quick Google says... not really? Not like this, at the least.]

No. [The best his mom could do was take them to the park down the road.] I can see the appeal, I guess.

[In another time and place and life he can see this being fun. Or maybe just different weather.]

Ritsuka and Asa have been sent to... a little petting zoo!

There are so many cute animals here, awwww.

- There is even a singular capybara--you get the idea

What...? The purpose of livestock is to produce food, not this ridiculousness.

I think some people think it's calming to pet them.

The capybara is just kind of staring at Yoru like "u mad". ]

I do not need calming. Do not project your foolish problems onto me. [ Pointing angrily at the capybara. ] As for you, foul creature: cease your staring!

... So what should I call you, anyway?

[ The capybara goes back to docile munching. While staring past her, I guess. ]

Welcome to painting class!

Time to learn in a nice, soothing environment where everyone is very encouraging and helpful. There's no wrong painting, just having fun!

Highlights:

- You're given an apron, since it might get messy
- They have themes if you want, but you're welcome to just be creative
- It's all about the vibes

[ Yeah he's gonna need that apron.

Mark's looking down at the assortment of paints in between them. He's got his own palette, which is cool — like a professional, it almost feels like! — but aside from... squeezing some paints onto it, he guesses? he isn't sure where to really begin.

So he looks over at Dorothea, trying to gauge if she knows how to start. ]

I think the last time I painted was like, grade school. [ Said with a little self-deprecating laugh. ] Have you ever done this before?

[rosethorns]

[Yeah thank the goddess for those aprons; Dorothea cannot abide by getting paint on this fabulous outfit!]

The best I’ve got is having watched classmates do some painting. [She laughs too.] Performance has always been my art of choice.

[She picks up her brush, glancing at the instructor’s demonstration for a moment before turning back to Mark.]

We’ll just have to give it our best attempt.

[titlecard]

We can do that. [ He shares her glance towards the instructor, back to her. Something about colour mixing, so he's going to squirt some black and white paint on the opposite ends of his palette; that's how he's going to get different shades, right? ] Not like we're getting graded on this, right? It's just for fun.

[ Hmm, what colour does he want to really start with... blue. He's going for blue, dipping into it with a large brush to really start filling up the canvas.

Turning back to Dorothea: ] Performance arts, huh? I think there are some things where you can watch people paint, but I'm guessing that's not the kind of performance you meant.

[rosethorns]

[Dorothea opts for some green. It's really time for some happy little trees!! There's a brief laugh from her as she dips her brush into the awaiting paint.]

No, certainly not. [Very slight pause as she attempts the beginnings of something vaguely tree-shaped.] I was an opera diva back home. Singing and acting on stage to the applause of many.

[Boasting! But it's true, so it's fine of course.]

dorothea & akechi

Dorothea and Akechi are asked to dress relatively nicely, and then they're brought off to the local jazz bar!

It's a classy establishment, and the mood is quietly comfortable; the other patrons don't talk too loudly, and it's clear everyone is here for the drinks and the performers.

Take a nice breather!

Highlights:

- This place is a lot stricter, so non-alcoholic beverages only for the teens
- The jazz performers are all excellent
- The performances will also go late into the night, so they're welcome to stay for as long as they wish

[Sullen is as good a word as any at having to be dragged out so many times this week against his will. But like he didn't complain with Kat he also doesn't fight it when he's told it's Dorothea he's going with. Mostly because she's left him well enough alone. And, because their first meeting went rather well.

First impressions are important but in this particular case the subsequent impressions were enough for him to not bother any further.

And had they gone anywhere else she may have found him quite disinterested and closed off. But the gentle melodies from within have him perking up substantially. Oh... a jazz club.

It's not Jazz Jin but it's a remarkably stylish little place.]

Are you familiar with jazz music, Dorothea-san?

[If nothing else, Dorothea is curious about how this date might turn out. Goro has the dichotomous distinction of a pleasant first meeting with her and the subsequent drama that’s been looming over the house. Steering clear for a while had seemed like the right call, but she can’t deny the curiosity in trying to get a better feel for how he may behave when removed from those other factors.

Their chosen venue, at least, looks like it may make for a pleasant evening if all goes well.]

Not entirely. I had an outing with Lessing last week where I first got to have a little taste of it though, and I have to say I’m glad to get a little more. Are you a fan?

I am. There's a small jazz club by my apartment that I go to from time to time. I like to do my homework there in the early evening when it's not too crowded. It's a very interesting style of music and a wonderful form of expression in both traditional and popular music. Jazz has swing, blue notes, complex chords, call and response vocals, polyrhythms and improvisation which all work to create a unique kind of music.

[He could prattle on about this all evening but he will reign himself in, simply folding his hands in front of him.]

Needless to say, I hope you enjoy it.

[She listens with clear interest, at least. If there’s one thing she doesn’t mind hearing others prattle on about, it would be music.]

I’m certain I shall. Especially if I’ve got an expert here to enlighten me.

[With a smile, she gives her glass an idle swirl.]

I’m much more versed in opera, obviously, but experiencing new types of music is always so refreshing. When you broaden your horizons, it’s quite the benefit for creativity.

Ryuji and Minami have been sent to a Christmas pop-up bar!

There's tinsel and sparkly things everywhere, a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, and a cute little table snuggled amongst the decorations for them to share!

Highlights:

- They get Santa hats to wear. A beard too if they want one.
- There are all sorts of non-alcoholic drinks and sweets to try
- And Christmas songs playing the whoooole time they're there

[ Ryuji is wearing a santa hat because, of course. He's all about the party. Even if the Christmas music is already starting to be... grating. Oh well! ]

Uh, I think so! Cake and lights and loud music? Hella Christmas, to be honest.

Huh. Usually when I see it there's a lot of yelling, crying, and broken things.
