Mm... I can eat pretty much everything. [ This is not bragging, this is just matter-of-fact. ]

So don't worry--if we find one and it's too sweet for you, I can take over. But there's a lot of fresh fruit ones... and a citrus one with mango and lemon and yuzu... oh, and there's one based off anmitsu! I don't know if you've ever had bean paste, but that's not too sweet!

[ Listen, despite her taking this seriously, she's still having fun trying to find something for him. ]

Though bean paste, huh? He definitely hasn't, but the kind of beans he's thinking about tend to be more savory than sweet, so that feels like a wild choice for a parfait. ]

[ He sounds just a hint skeptical, but he'll try it if she does. ]

I do! It's really refreshing and it's got a bunch of different parts to it!

[ Complex flavors, huh? That is something that interests him. ]

Let's do the bean paste. I doubt I'd have that many chances to try something like that again.

Fine by me! [ Then she'll flag over the waiter to put in an order for that. ]

I was a little worried when they said we were going to a parfait place, when I know you don't really have that big of a sweet tooth, so I hope this works out... if not, we can go find something else and I bet it'll be fine.

[ The irony did seem to be heavy. Maybe the producers saw him sharing cake and though he was just a desserts sharing kind of guy in general? Never mind that he didn't actually eat any of that cake. ]

There's fruit on a lot of them, so I'm sure I'll be able to eat part of it regardless.

[ Fruit is usually a kind of sweetness he's happy to chow down on. ]

Oh good, so you are okay with fruit. I figured, since it was a natural kind of sweetness...

I'm okay with most kinds of sweets in moderation too. A slice of cake is just a lot at once.

[ There's so much confidence and pluck she manages to say that with, it's charming enough to get a small smile out of him. ]

Then I'll leave most of the work to you this time.

[ Oh, he smiled.

Ritsuka brightens almost immediately (not that she wasn't already smiling), saluting him with her spoon. ]

Leave it to me!

[ And soon enough, their parfait will be brought out--a scoop of matcha ice cream, layers of whipped cream, a little plop of bean paste, cubes of agar, bits of melon, cherries, kiwi and peaches. ]

Well, in the spirit of new experiences, first bite goes to you.

[ He will be avoiding the whipped cream, though he does look curious at the green ice cream. What he's going for first though is that little plop of bean paste, taking just the smallest bit of it onto his spoon and very carefully taking a bite.

His face is contemplative as he tastes it, frowning, though more thoughtfully than anything. She'll have to wait until he swallows to get his opinions, and even then it's not that helpful. ]

It really isn't what I expected something called bean paste to taste like.

[ Yeah, really--what's that mean? She's hanging on his every word here. ]

Good. You're right. It's not too sweet.

[ He'll even go for a second bite, even if he's trying to keep it small so he doesn't eat all of it. It was her suggestion, and Ritsuka should get some too. ]

[ It's fine, she's sagely reaching over to scoop up sone of the ice cream and a cherry, popping the spoon into her mouth with a wordless sound of delight.

That's the good stuff! ]

I'm glad you like it! It's a pretty traditional summer dessert back where I'm from.

[ He'll go for a piece of melon next himself. ]

The green ice cream is matcha--green tea. Ice cream aside, it's a kind of grassy flavor, so also not very sweet.

[ Grassy flavor probably wouldn't appeal as an advertisement to most people, but Lessing is a sheep, so...

He'll go for it next, taking a half a spoonful, trying it out and mid-letting it melt in his mouth give a firm, determined nod.

It's another good one for him. Her taste in desserts is solid. He's going for another bite of that too. ]

Okay! Then I think we can eat this one pretty equally!

[ He can have the milder flavors and she'll go for the sweeter stuff! They're doing it. ]

[ Splitting it evenly in a way everyone (two people) can be happy about.

Just the smallest hint of a smile for Lessing before he goes back to eating. He doesn't take big bites, but he does eat pretty fast. ]

[ Listen, it means he likes it. Or so she assumes. ]

Sorry if this is in any way offensive, but I was kind of wondering... do you eat meat?

[ Like she doesn't think he eats grass, but... the horns and the ears... ]

[ The herbivore animal traits, yeah... it's understandable. Though it's not necessarily what he's thinking. ]

I'm not a vegetarian, but if you prefer I don't eat meat in front of you, that's fine.
