[She lets her fingers brush over a couple of the plushies on display, smiling when her attention turns to Ritsuka.]

They have so many to choose from, it will make a fun surprise.

Right! So, on that note, Doro-chan--

[ Oh there's so many. ]

... Any animals you don't like?

[A thoughtful tilt of her head.]

I guess I’ve never been terribly fond of horses or pegasi…

[Mostly because she’s never been so great at riding them.]

Pegasi? Like, flying horses?

Is it the size? Horses are pretty big, aren't they?

Yep, the flying horses. I admit they can be kind of cute, but… it’s not so much the size that’s a bother as it is, well…

[A hum as she takes a thoughtful pause.] They’re just so fussy.

Fussy...

I don't know that many horses, but I'll take your word for it. No horses today!

[ Other plush instead!! ]

[Fussy! Yeah, that's definitely the word for it. Totally.

She glances over all of the options available, stepping over to one display and humming thoughtfully for a moment before she glances back toward Ritsuka.]

I suppose I should turn the question back on you as well. Is there a least favorite critter I should avoid?

... I'm a little over bears.

[ Like. Teddy bears are cute, but the non-muscley Orion takes the form of a tiny bear and she Can't with him. ]

[She laughs.] Alright, bye-bye bears, then!

[Which tbh, narrows things down a little more than she expected—there are just so many types of them here. It’s almost like this place has bear in the name or something…]

But “over” them, huh? Sounds like there’s a story there…?

Yeah, one of them is something like a coworker, but he's a major pervert. Artemis keeps him in line, but you know, sometimes that stuff just.... gets out.

[ With a huff. ]

A bear as a coworker?

[And a perverted bear at that?? Blinks a little in surprise as she picks up one potential plushie, and glances back toward Ritsuka.]

Sorry, I don’t think I asked earlier—what is it exactly that you do back home?

Umm. [ Hm. ]

I'm a... summoner? Of heroic spirits. They fight major threats and I back them up.

[rosethorns]

My, that sounds… [Like something out of a story?] …like it must be dangerous. How did you get caught up in something like that?

Completely by accident.

[ This is so truthful, as she finally selects a plushie but keeps her back to Dorothea. Secret!! ]

[Dorothea has perhaps settled on one herself, now contemplating a little outfit for it. She can’t help but laugh at the frankness of her answer.]

Life has a habit of taking a swerve with all sorts of accidents, doesn’t it…

It really does. [ With a snort. Of tiredness. ]

Sometimes I look back on it and go "wow, this all happened because I took a nap?"

Just from a nap, huh? Imagine what might happen if you were to enjoy a lazy morning of sleeping in, then.

[Light, teasing amusement in her tone. Sounds like something out of a fairy tale—a girl falls asleep, and finds the world has changed upon waking.]

Well, once we’re done here you’ll have a soft little friend to take home and keep you company while you do.

[Dorothea’s fairly certain she’s landed on her choice… now it’s time to build that not!bear.]

I decided to try something new this past year, and… I think it’s turned out more exciting than I anticipated, to be completely honest.

[She thinks about where things had been leading when she ran off to join this show and grimaces.]

More bad than good, at this point.

[She breathes out a soft sigh, brushing her thumb against the soft fabric of the plushie.]

Fighting… I don’t think I have the heart for it. But I can’t bear the thought of my friends running headlong into danger while sitting back and doing nothing, so I may be resigned to follow them wherever it goes.
