week two | mingle
Welcome to week two, Teens Who Are Definitely Searching for Love!
Hopefully everyone got a lot of rest over the weekend, and are bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for the upcoming week, because there are a few things of interest this week.
But first, some changes of note in the house!
First: there is a giant rectangular box on the living room table, addressed to Lessing. It is a care package. The only thing in it is his sword.
There is some Bauernbrot bread on the counter. Ask Lessing about that too.
There is now a hot tub near the pool. It’s large enough to seat about six teens comfortably, but you can get more in there if you really try for some reason.
Okay I think that’s everything. Additionally, Tsukasa is here early this week! He’s looking pretty perky, seemingly recovered from the Match Ceremony, and he’s got some interesting info to share with everyone.

[ In the early hours of Monday morning, Asa jerks awake with a loud, panicked-sounding gasp.
After looking around to make sure she hasn't woken anyone else up (not that she can really tell in the dark), she steps out of bed as quietly as she can and heads for the kitchen to grab a glass of water. She'll be in there for a while, just... staring into space, so feel free to run into her even without having been woken up, or if you're one of the exiled freaks. You know who you are. ]
b. scavenger time
[ She's already regretting her promise to be more of a team player this week, but they definitely need that hint. So here she is, staring down at her scavenger hunt sheet with an expression of disgust — then switching into Focus Mode. The first person she sees is getting accosted without so much as a hello. ]
Can we do this without making it weird? [ Says the girl who makes everything weird. ]
a
He blinks from the threshold.]
Asa?

Hey, Sanji. [ She glances in his direction briefly, then goes back to staring at the wall again. At least she's not chasing him off? ] Sorry, I just needed a drink. I'll get out of your way in a minute.
no subject
No. No . . . You don't have to do that. You're not in my way.
[If anything, he's the one obstructing her. Sanji steps into the kitchen proper, giving Asa a comfortable path to clear away (if she so desires) as he approaches the island from the opposite end.]
. . . Are you hungry?
no subject
[ She feels bad saying it so bluntly, but she'd feel worse if she said yes and then couldn't eat. ]
I had a bad dream. [ A shrug; her attempt at being reassuring. ] The same one as usual... it's been a few days, so it caught me off guard. I'm just glad I didn't wake anyone up.

A few days . . . ?! [His shock comes at a volume just above that of a harsh whisper, mindful of their sleeping peers and Asa's sensibility. How often does she have this nightmare? How many nights has she woken up alone, here and back?] Does this happen often?

Uh.... sure.
[ Reaching into his pocket to pull out his list, and while he scans it: ]
Which ones are the least weird to you?
[ He'd rather just ask than suggest the ones he doesn't think are weird... Josuke has a sinking suspicion she'll find something offensive or unacceptable about whatever he says. ]
no subject
Just so you know, we aren't making out.
no subject
Yeah, you made that pretty clear last time.
[ That she is not at all interested in him. Which is fine, he doesn't take it personally. Not like he's particularly interested that way, either... ]
I meant more like one of the easy ones. Like talking about food or childhood, maybe...
no subject
[ Since he looks rich... and she eats instant ramen. But this is being too unhelpful even for her standards, and so she gives him a lifeline. ]
Do you know what devils are...?
(no subject)
b
Likely not.
[Hi]
The "weird" ones are probably worth the most points, besides.
no subject
Yeah. They wouldn't make it easy on us... [ She sighs, but Wednesday is the closest to someone normal she's going to get (insane statement). ] Since you're here, I'd like to try and do something worth three points. [ Beat. ] Obviously not any of the... you know. Or the — um, you know.
[ wow can you be less specific ]
no subject
One of the less romantically-overtoned or overly sentimental ones, you mean.
[Right? Mayeb she's wrong, tho.]
Which one are you thinking of, then?
b.
[Will hasn't had the chance to talk with Asa directly in the past week, so. . . now seems like as good of a time as any! especially after his last conversation with Anna]
[he has his own scavenger hunt sheet, which he holds loosely in his hands, and at her question he gives her a puzzled look]
Of course. Why would it be weird?
no subject
[ Bitch have you looked in a mirror? ]
no subject
[help he doesn't get it]
no subject
[ Some people are just too
stupidpure. She glances at her list. ]Do you know what a trust fall is? [ More importantly: is Anna going to see her ex-bestie swooning into her boyfriend's arms? ]

Just pick one of the ones that isn't weird. Like -- siblings, you got any?
no subject
[ Famine Devil calling her little sister doesn't count, right...? That's Yoru's family, not hers. But they share a body...
She stands there considering this for a few seconds. Not a great start for what should probably be the easiest question on the list. ]
... Definitely not. [ She finally adds, not at all suspiciously. ] What about you?
no subject
Nah, I'm an only child. [ ....... ] So I guess that was a useless question. Damn.
[ he tried. Back to the sheet. ]
Oh, I have a ton of cool skills, though!
no subject
Like what? [ You've got one (1) chance to impress her, Steve. ]

b
Probably? [ God, he hopes so. It's not like he wants things to be weird either. ] Um...
[ Frantically skimming his own sheet. ]
Holding hands would be easy but probably still weird, huh.
[ Okay maybe this will be harder than it looks. ]
no subject
[ But you know what? ]
... Let's do it anyway. It's on my sheet too, so it's really two points. [ She won't h*ld h*nds with a boy for one point, she's not a ho. ]
no subject
[ Look, he can appreciate the practicality. And the straightforwardness is almost refreshing.
He reaches out to take Asa's hand in his. Mark's own hand probably feels normal; maybe a little dry, but in theory there's absolutely nothing special about it. He's just. Holding her hand. ]
... Do you know how long we have to do this for?
no subject
Oh.
Oh no. ]
W-we should probably keep going for a while, just in case... [ As her face slowly turns bright red... almost sweating... she is VERY intentionally staring at the ground and not him. This is so fucking awkward, nobody better see them. ]
