Welcome to week two, Teens Who Are Definitely Searching for Love!

Hopefully everyone got a lot of rest over the weekend, and are bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for the upcoming week, because there are a few things of interest this week.

But first, some changes of note in the house!

First: there is a giant rectangular box on the living room table, addressed to Lessing. It is a care package. The only thing in it is his sword.

There is some Bauernbrot bread on the counter. Ask Lessing about that too.

There is now a hot tub near the pool. It’s large enough to seat about six teens comfortably, but you can get more in there if you really try for some reason.

Okay I think that’s everything. Additionally, Tsukasa is here early this week! He’s looking pretty perky, seemingly recovered from the Match Ceremony, and he’s got some interesting info to share with everyone.

There are schools. . . but usually they're only affordable by nobles or wealthy families.

Huh. That's weird. [ Just says this. For some reason, the sheer mundanity of this difference is taking her out. ] Um, we have private schools for rich people, but there are public ones too. I guess college is really expensive, but that's why you save up for it...

If everyone had the opportunity to learn to read and write, then. . . maybe we wouldn't have the same problems of class inequality.

Yeah... I guess to you, it would sound amazing.

[ This. Sounds like she's insulting him, but she really hates going to school. Bullies leaving raw chicken guts in her locker is one of the milder things that have happened to her there. She can admit that having an education is better than not, but she's still going to be cynical in the face of his optimism. ]

But corruption is still everywhere. People still die to devil attacks every day. Those problems don't disappear because everyone can read a book. [ casually trivializes the idea of literacy ]

You're not wrong. Expanding education to everyone. . . wouldn't solve those problems.

But it might be a step in the right direction. And it'll improve the lives of suffering and struggling individuals more than anything else.
