week two | dates
You worked up your courage and asked someone out on a date! Good job!
Now you have to hope the producers are kind re: where they send you.
Now you have to hope the producers are kind re: where they send you.

And, well. She does eventually crack a smile.]
This...
[She glances aside at Ryuji. The wall of corn stalks couched around them, tall and thick, shiver in the breeze.]
...will be terrifying.
no subject
But he's here! He's in his winter outfit and ready to do the thing. He shoves a water bottle into his coat pocket and looks up in time to see Wednesday crack a smile, grinning brightly back at her. ]
Oh yeah. We're gonna get spooked for real.
[ He takes a moment to take it all in, spinning in a circle for a moment as he looks at the corn stalks surrounding them. Damn. ]
Shit, I've never been in a corn field before. We don't have 'em in Tokyo. Should we just... pick a direction and start?
no subject
He looks like he's Into It, bolstering her enthusiasm, which was already pretty high. She turns her darkened (positive) gaze towards the stretch of the maze that greets them, as though to meet its challenge.]
It's a staple in certain horror novels. [She stalks off, water bottle still in hand, as expecting Ryuji to follow close behind.] From what I could tell before we entered, this one seems to take up many acres of space.
[Their first choice comes quickly: left or right. Wednesday turns left al;kdjfkja sorry she didn't even ask--]
no subject
He'll hurry on after her as she starts off into the maze, not even hesitating to follow. And when she makes the choice for them, he doesn't think twice about it either. Sure, left! He follows her that way too. ]
Yeah? I guess they're kinda scary in a way. Just... fields of corn, as far as the eye can see. No idea what's in it. Somethin' could pop out at any moment.
[ Which does make him frown for a moment and make sure he sticks close to Wednesday. They would make them do this at night, huh? He can hear rustling in the field around them, a crow off in the distance. ]
What d'you think we'll get first? Axe murderer or zombie?
no subject
I think... a zombie.
[A zombie's great for a jumpscare. However...]
An axe murderer is more of a "stalker" type of enemy. The kind that'll give chase throughout this maze, disappearing randomly and reappearing just when you think you have a moment of peace to yourself. Depending on just how intense this maze is supposed to be.
[Given how dramatic this all seems, she expects some level of thrill.]
no subject
Zombies kinda... meander, yeah? You're totally right, the axe murderer will wait until we're super on edge to jump out and scare us. The zombie, we'll prolly stumble into ourselves.
[ A sage nod. So smart, so wise, this Wednesday. ]
no subject
That's right. Or it'll provide an extra obstacle for when we are being chased around. Blocking our path in these narrow "corridors."
[How exciting.]
In which case, I have a suggestion for us.
no subject
Hm. ]
It's not splittin' up, is it?
[ Just gotta be sure!! ]
no subject
[The implication being that... she doesn't want to suggest the thrill of splitting up with Ryuji; that it defeats the point of the date. And maybe she doesn't want to stray from his side because of it (and perhaps other reasons.)]
No, let's see how fast we can rush through it. How many terrible "monsters" and "undead" we can have on our tail all at once. The idea's both comical and exhilarating; running for your life, but not entirely so.
no subject
But the idea sounds really fun. Dashing through the cornstalks and trying to get chased by as many things as possible. He bounces a little on his feet and grins brightly. ]
Hell yeah, that sounds fun. Let's do it.
no subject
A spark of excitement in her usually dark-eyed gaze when he agrees to it, and she nods curtly.]
On the count of three, then...
[She sticks her bottle of water snug in a coat pocket. It probably won't go tumbling out anything while they're sprinting. Probably.]
One, two... three!
no subject
When they both dart off, he laughs, bright and merry and speeds down the path, following it and meeting her pace as well. When the path shoots off — left or right — he calls out to ask her which direction. ]
Left or right?
[ And when she makes it, he'll turn that direction. What's cool is that it won't take long for him to hear other footsteps hurrying after them, which scares him a little as well as make the adrenaline pump more. Wednesday was right. ]
no subject
Speaking of right-]
We go right.
[And so down they go, rushing along in that direction, and she does begin to hear footfalls that are more than just hers and Ryuji's. She manages a glance back, unable to stop the smile from spreading across her face. Just behind them, they've already collected two "undead" who shuffle quickly in their directions, trailing behind.]
Look at our company, Ryuji!
no subject
You were right, the zombies appeared first. Now we need the axe murderer.
[ Or something else! He's trying to think of what else could pop out at them in a corn maze like this. Aliens might be too far out of left field. The axe murderer could be wielding a chainsaw instead. Hmm, so many possibilities. ]
no subject
Perhaps they'll find out sooner or later, but maybe even more exciting, it'll not go quite as smoothly as planned. Assuming Ryuji continues to keep on Wednesday's leading trail, they'll take another hard left up ahead, which leads down a long and turning corridor that... eventually leads to a dead end.
Wednesday skids to a stop, aware of all the hubbub behind her despite not turning around just yet, eyes narrowing at the wall of corn as though it's there to spite her.]
I see.
no subject
They're just... actors, right? Not zombies for real?
[ Suddenly, he is a little worried about what's going to come after them. Anywhere else, he'd think, paid actors — it's fine. But here, he doesn't know if he can trust whatever this reality TV show throws at them. ]
