So, uh.

Welcome to Week Three! We’ve officially passed the halfway point, and after a super, duper successful Match Ceremony, I’m sure the teens are feeling all hyped up and raring to go.

Right?

Regardless, there are a few changes this Monday morning to greet the teens:

First off, there is a new bathroom! Oooh, aaaahhhh. Three whole bathrooms in the house for the teens now. Enjoy.
There is also a set of video games in the living room to connect to the TV. They are pretty much all multiplayer party games like M*rio C*rt. Don’t kill each other.
There are a few packs of dorayaki now scattered around the house.
There is also a piano now in the living room!
On the counter in the kitchen, there is also some paper and writing implements, like basic ballpoint pens. Wait, doesn’t that break the rules?

Tsukasa’s extremely loud and obnoxious voice is not here to greet you guys this morning, which means it seems there isn’t a Task for the week–

But something else seems to be going on.

I know... It really, really does. [ says the guy who has been massively dishonest by omission the entire time he has been here, with no intentions of letting that up. He feels shitty just thinking about it, but he doesn't know how to break the problem that lead to the demise of his first relationship, so he's just going to have to. keep it up. ]

Ugh, I really hope I get it right sooner rather than later, though. I don't want to hurt anyone again. That's why... I dunno, I think Kat would get it. So it'd make sense if she was my match.

[ Just kind of. Pining away for an easy mode here. Nevermind all that stuff about being challenged by someone into being a better partner; why can't he just have it the way he wants it right now? Is his life not hard enough already. ]

You won't hurt anyone if you don't want to, Mark-kun. You're a really wonderful guy. Considerate, kind... cautious of yourself. Aware? I guess is the better word? [ ... ] Anyway. You're good looking, so when you go for what you want or you're cocky and confident it really gets the heart racing, and you're super easy to talk to, too. That's pretty important when you're looking for a match, heart or otherwise.

[ He watches her shift back to floating otter style, and exhales, staying upright and still just treading water. Anna floating comfortably in her own relationship, and Mark just trying to keep his head above... there's a metaphor there if he thinks about it hard enough, which he doesn't want to, so nevermind.

... uuuuggghhhh especially when Anna says that stuff about him, and he's been thinking about her, and it's just, what is he supposed to say to all of that. Be confident, says the ~~Anna~~ angel on his shoulder, to which he replies no absolutely not she's with Will.

You make it sound so... easy. [ He laughs a little. It's so not easy. ] Like nothing could go wrong. I think I really need to work to get to where you are. But, you know... thanks for the vote of confidence. I just have to keep reminding myself of all of that...

[ And figure out how to translate it into superhero life, but... that's a problem for future Mark. Right now, maybe he can just enjoy a nice bit of time in the pool. ]

That's the tough part. Where it can all go wrong, I mean. 'Cause sometimes people just don't feel... like it's worth the trouble, I guess. But if they're important to you, and you wanna be with them... then isn't it?

[ nah, he'll just keep all his emotions right here, and then one day he'll die.

He's silent for a bit, thinking it over. ]

I feel like... [ how to word this... ] there are some things I have to put over a relationship. No matter how much I might want to be with someone, there are some things in my life that are going to be more important... and I'd need to be with someone who understands that. I can't see any other way around it.

[ mmmaybe surprisingly? she's very much in love with love and being in love and being loved but. anna's more mature than she lets on. ]

Like, I'd never ask Will-kun to put me over his goals. He never would anyway, but it'd never even cross my mind to. I totally get that comes first. Actually, after the match ceremony, I broke up with him 'cause I felt like our relationship was doing what Minami-kun said back a while ago and keeping him from finding his match and all. [ a beat. ] You know, Akechi-kun's whole...

[ a gesture. that. his unnecessary flourishes, his spiel. she sighs. ]

Even before we voted in Dori-chan and Sanji-kun... I didn't wanna go into the Truth Booth because I knew Will-kun needed the limelight more than the privacy of a suite. He didn't think a single thing about that, Mark-kun. I know it totally doesn't seem like it, but I can be a pretty serious person too. I don't have to be by his side to support him, but I... want to be, even if that might be way easier here than it'll be in the future.

clearly okay now though so. anyway. future anna problems include a long distance relationship. it'll be tough on them both at least... ]

[ Definitely surprising. Mark looks sharply at her; he likes Anna — maybe a little too much — but she's definitely come across as like... the romance expert. The person who knows how everything is supposed to shake out, how to match people up, how to get everyone their sfw happy ending. Like it's kind of the only thing, and maybe here, yeah, that might actually be true.

So to hear that she understands him. That she broke up with Will so he could find his match (and saying nothing about Anna finding her match... the gears in his brain are turning, but no, he should really wait for her to say something first). That she doesn't have to be by Will's side to support him, she can be serious, she can put things into perspective...

it's a good thing that it's IC for him to keep all of this inside until after the match ceremony so no timelines are disrupted. Because Mark has zeroed in on Kat being his match because she should be able to understand the whole superhero thing, keep up with him. But if Anna can do that... emotionally, not physically, but it's not like he was ever going to ask for more than that...

He shifts to go back to floating on his back, too. Staring up at the sky, arms beside him.

You might be exactly what I need, he does not say. ]

well, it isn't like it's the first time she's thought mark might be her match, if will wasn't. but there's time to think about that next week. heartaching, but... she'll be okay by then, thanks to the ceremony itself.

relaxing just a little. floating, staring at the sky. before anna sighs, wishing she could spent a minute longer just like this. ]

... Well, I guess we oughta get out. My fingers feel like they're pruning.

[ kicking casually to the side of the pool... ugh, it's wet clothes time, this is absolutely awful and different than a swimsuit. ]

[ He floats alongside her in silence, until... ]

Oh, yeah. [ Small laugh. ] Yeah, this was kind of a wild choice we made, huh?

[ Swimming over to the pool's edge alongside her. And, hmm... He can probably go into the house in just a towel, but... ]

You can borrow my shirt, if you want. [ Especially since it should be like. Huge on her. ] And then we can throw everything in the laundry when we're all dried off...

[ this really was a choice, not that he regrets it. ]

Oh, thanks! I'd really appreciate it.

[ let her towel off a little first so she doesn't absolutely soak his shirt. okay. good. it is way too big on her, and anna rubs at her hair a little more to get as much out as she can. ]

Being a little impulsive was kinda fun, huh?

[ ... A small smile as he towels himself off a bit, mostly so he doesn't drip water everywhere. He's just going to be going through the house shirtless for a few minutes, it's fine. ]
