week three | mingle

So, uh.

Welcome to Week Three! We’ve officially passed the halfway point, and after a super, duper successful Match Ceremony, I’m sure the teens are feeling all hyped up and raring to go.

Right?

Regardless, there are a few changes this Monday morning to greet the teens:

  • First off, there is a new bathroom! Oooh, aaaahhhh. Three whole bathrooms in the house for the teens now. Enjoy.
  • There is also a set of video games in the living room to connect to the TV. They are pretty much all multiplayer party games like M*rio C*rt. Don’t kill each other.
  • There are a few packs of dorayaki now scattered around the house.
  • There is also a piano now in the living room!
  • On the counter in the kitchen, there is also some paper and writing implements, like basic ballpoint pens. Wait, doesn’t that break the rules?

Tsukasa’s extremely loud and obnoxious voice is not here to greet you guys this morning, which means it seems there isn’t a Task for the week–

But something else seems to be going on.

Embrace Space | Property Damage, etc | Dates | Mini-Event
Truth Booth Voting | Match Ceremony Submissions

[ ... well, now he just feels shitty. Justified, but shitty. ]

We don't have to vote for you.

[ ... this week. Because after talking with Josuke, Mark is thinking about the nuclear option and voting for Akechi and Will next week. ]

I just... don't think things would work out as badly as you think they might.

[ Because Will is a good guy, right? And Akechi is easy to spend time with when he isn't being... Akechi. Hm.

Either way, maybe he shouldn't be, but Mark is desperately holding out hope that the worst won't happen. That people are fundamentally good. That definitely includes Will, but it has to include Akechi, too. ]

Never once, in my entire life, have things not worked out as bad as I thought they would. In fact, I'd say they tend to be worse.

[He folds his arms over his chest and gives Mark a good hard look. Mark, despite the ups and downs has been someone he trusts. And he can't help but wonder if that trust has been, like it often is, misplaced.]

So I would prefer not to go, Mark. If my feelings matter on that but consensuses tells me they don't.

[ ... This is one way they have to show Akechi trust, then. By not voting him in. He doesn't want it, so it can't happen. ]

Okay. I hear you. I mean— I can only control my vote, so I won't vote for you. You want to stay in the house with the rest of us [ positive framing! ] then you will.

What do we have to do to help you believe that things will be different this time? I want to help.

[ He does; the sentiment is sincere. He's just also trying to think of contingency plans because fool me once, and the crimes Akechi confessed to him sounded a lot like what his dad did, and he never saw that coming.

He wants to be trusting, but not stupid; not with this much at stake. ]

Just don't vote for me. That's all. Not this time and not next time. There's no sense to it. You want Will in there so badly send him with Anna. You'll get the same results if that hint is to believed.

[That's all he asks. And all he can ask. But he has no idea how much his voice is worth. Probably nothing if they're all so eager to remove him.]

I won't.

[ Because he feels for Akechi. Despite everything, he really, really does.

But his promise is only for this time — because who knows how much can change in a week, and he won't handcuff himself. Just in case.

It's not like he needs to specify. ]
