Yeah, exactly — we're all pretty similar, and I really like hanging out and talking with you guys. I think there's a good chance at a match between the three of us!

I've never heard of that one before, but I'd love to read it some day! Most of the ones I've read are American, actually.

My favourite is Séance Dog. It's about this Jack Russell terrier who fights evil with magic, and it's. soooo. good.

[ A puppy who fights evil with magic... yup, this is about what all anime and manga sound like to his normie ears. The difference with this one is someone he actually likes cares about it, so his bandwidth to show interest is much higher. ]

You got any with you? That mangaka's always getting pissed at me for not "appreciating" comics...

I spent all my luggage space on stuff for my hair — I couldn't fit anything like that, hah.

I do! They don't take up that much room, so I brought a few issues of this one arc where Séance Dog has to overcome a lot of stuff — [ something he is still feeling very personally right now, if he takes the time to think about it. ] I thought it'd be good to have just in case, for any downtime, but you can totally borrow it. I'd love to share it with you.

[ New love language unlocked: getting a crush into the same series you're into... ]

Your hair looks like you take such good care of it, though... [ Mark meanwhile is probably just using. Incredibly basic shampoo, ] That makes sense, that it'd take up so much of your luggage. Were you able to pack everything you needed...?

[ Right, because these two are still on sleeping in random places duty. Closes eyes. ]

But thanks, I did. I wasn't sure what kind of styling tools they might have here... I'd rather just have my stuff from home, you know? Styling my hair's kinda a big deal to me.

[ Which he says as casually as he can; it's actually a deeply important ritual for him, and while it's not something he's secretive about, he does feel like it's weird to go around telling everyone why it is he's so particular about it. Most people just assume he likes the hairstyle and has some degree of vanity, and he's fine with that, so long as they don't insult it. ]

Gonna have to wake up extra early so I have enough time to do it... everyone's gonna be wanting to use the mirrors.

But yeah, Mark is definitely looking at Josuke's hair that little bit more closely. It's a lot — a lot — more effort than he'd put into his own, and even though he's talking about it pretty casually, it does almost feel like there's an underlying gravitas to his words. There's definitely a level of importance here that Mark isn't entirely sure how to reconcile.

So he'll do the best he can, starting with his smile softening. ]

Man, I don't think I could wake up early for... anything, really. [ A little self-deprecating laugh; though he's been sleeping better here, there are still bags under his eyes. Someone still has sleep debt. ] But I think if something's that important to you then it's a good thing that you're able to take care of it. I mean... it's part of who you are, right? So I'm happy you're able to do that.

[ Because he likes Josuke! And if Josuke's hair is that much a part of who he is, then he's happy he's able to take care of it the way he wants, even away from home like this. ]

Not even for food you really like eating? I thought you'd be more like... the diligent type.

[ Waking up early and stuff! Josuke also sucks at waking up early, it just so happens that needing his hair to look good is That important to him. But Mark seems more like a serious, straight-laced student than him, at least by his own perception. ]

[ He blinks in surprise. Mark... diligent?

And laughs a little. Can't hide the little blush that arises. ]

I think my mom wishes I was, but, um. [ He awkwardly rubs the back of his neck. ] Not quite... I actually might be relying on coffee too much these days, heh.

I like coffee as much as the next guy, too, but...

You staying up too late playing video games? [ this is the most common culprit, at least for him... more seriously: ] Or just have a hard time sleeping?

Uh...

[ If only. If only he was staying up too late playing video games. His hesitation in answering is definitely odd, though, as he mentally smacks himself to tell himself to get it together. ]

A little bit of both? [ Man, even to his own ears he is not convincing. ] Maybe they go hand in hand... I might need to cut back on the screen time.

[ A beat, as he tries to think of a way to change the subject. Or at least navigate it somewhere he can handle better. ]

Except then I'd probably end up staying up too late reading comics, so maybe it's a harder problem to tackle than I thought...
